Safeguarding

We have a responsibility to ensure your child’s safety during the school day.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are:
Mrs Jones – Head Teacher, Mr Spittle – Deputy Head Teacher, Mrs Holtham – Inclusion Manager, Mrs Bryan – Family Link and Miss
Maskell – Family Link.

Safety and Security for adults and children at school
It is important that we are fully aware of who is in the school at any time. Therefore, we need to identify any adults entering the
school site and ensure they sign in and out of the visitor’s system and wear a visitor’s badge.
We need to ensure that all children on site appear on their class daily attendance register. Children arriving late must come to the
school office to be entered in the late book by the adult dropping them to school.
We have a duty of care which involves accounting for every adult and child on site. Sorry that some of you do not like having to walk
around to the front of the school after drop off but it is a measure we have to take to keep your children safe.

Safeguarding Your Children: Safer Recruitment
All staff in school are subject to DBS checks. These checks are updated every three years. All agency staff are DBS checked by the
individual agencies and this information is provided to us prior to them starting the school. All the voluntary workers are also DBS
checked. As part of the recruitment process for staff we take up two professional references (from previous employers or educational
institutions) which must meet the basic requirements for appointment—in other words, they must be favourable in all aspects. Any
instances of inappropriate behaviour on the part of the adults in school are taken up immediately by the Leadership Team and
disciplinary procedures are put in motion if necessary. Our Chair of Governors and our Safeguarding governor have also received
safer recruitment training.
