In Science this term, we have learnt about materials. Our Starfishes have explored different materials and learnt to differentiate between objects and materials. We know that some objects such as rocks, paper etc. can be objects and as well as materials. We have also explored uses of materials and we have enjoyed considering what material is best for a given purpose.

This week, we explored hot air balloons. We then went to to decide the best materials for making hot air balloons and parachutes as this links with our topic in theme- ‘Flight’. We agreed that a light waterproof fabric will be the best for the job and we explained why.

Then, we made some sample parachutes using paper napkins and strings.

We thoroughly enjoy testing them afterwards!
