Today Year 2 were engaged in an art morning where we looked at the artwork ‘The Great Wave’ by a Japanese artist called Hokusai. This links with our Theme of All Aboard because we are thinking about oceans and the sea. It also links to our English book ‘Harry and the Jaggedy Daggers’ because Zephyr, the Wild Wind, whips up a storm causing chaos in Bottlenose Bay!

We used different shades of blue to show the waters of Japan as well as different materials to create texture and interest.

Whilst working, we listened to traditional music from Asia which allowed us to hear instruments such as the flute, bells and gentle drum beats.

We had a fabulous morning and cannot wait to use our art work in a future DT lesson.
