This week, Year One have been busy thinking about linking art to our Theme of Into the Woods. Previously, we have explored the artwork of Andy Goldsworthy who uses leaves, twigs and even ice to create his sculptures. To think about how we can use similar aspects of nature to create art, we went into our Year 1 playground to collect twigs and leaves which we then used to create our own paintbrushes. This meant we could see how to create different types of marks using different materials.

We really worked well using our BLP muscles of imagining and absorption to create interesting art work. It was a fun experience and we were able to recall previous learning to help us make links.

Why don’t you have a try at home to share your learning.
