Good morning!
Another snow day today so please find your activities below that Miss Wooton and I would like you to complete:
Maths:
With someone in your home, find 10 small objects to be used and work together to find different ways to make 10! You might have 3 pencils and 7 pens which makes 10 in total! Can you write all of your number bonds to 10 down? Can you write them as a number sentence (3 + 7 = 10)?
Snow Maths:
With an adult in your home, go into your outdoor space, collect natural materials (twigs, sticks, stones) and make the outline of a shape by pressing the materials down in the snow. Did you make a square? A triangle? A circle? How many sides does it have? How many corners does it have?
Literacy:
Can you write a list of words that you think of when you think of snow? How does it feel? What does it look like? Does it have a smell or a taste? How does it make you feel? Let’s take note of your lovely letter formation and use your super phonics to help you.
CHALLENGE:
Can you write a sentence or two about how you feel when you are outside playing in the snow? do you prefer when it is snowing or sunny? Why? Don’t forget to use a capital letter at the start of your sentence, your finger spaces and use a full stop at the end to let us know your sentence is complete.
Phonics:
Please practise your letter sounds today which can be found in your school diary or the phonics resource pack I made for you. Can you spell words using your sounds like we do in school? Please take some time to practise your tricky words too!
Science and Investigation:
With an adult, can you research and explore how penguins stay warm and dry in the snow? You can have a go at trying this experiment yourself by drawing a penguin on some card using wax crayons and putting a bit of snow on your wax drawing. What happens to the snow on top of the wax crayon drawing?
Art:
Can you use imprints of objects to create a picture? You can use natural resources or your hands and feet but please make sure an adult is with you so that you do not get too cold!
We would love for you to send in or bring in any pictures that you wish to share with us of your fun snow day today!
Enjoy your day,
Miss Clulow and Miss Wootton.
