Good morning, Reception!
Please find below some activities that Miss Clulow and I would like you to have a go at completing today, whilst you are at home.
Maths:
With someone in your home, each grab a small handful of objects in one hand. Without counting, can you guess who has ‘MORE’ and who has ‘FEWER’? How do you know? Now, count the objects in your hands to check who has ‘MORE’ and who has ‘FEWER’. Compare the two numbers, by talking about which one is ‘BIGGER’ and which one is ‘SMALLER’.
Snow Maths:
Can you build a snowman in your garden/outdoor space? Can you build a snowman that is ‘TALLER’ than you? Can you build a snowman that is ‘SHORTER’ than you? How many balls of snow did you need to use to build the snowmen?
Literacy:
Brrrrrr, what a cold day! Snow is fun to play in, but we must make sure that we wrap up warm for the occasion! Can you write a list of things that we need to wear when going outside in the snow? Lets take note of your lovely letter formation and use your super phonics to help you.
CHALLENGE:
Can you write a sentence or two about all the fun that you have had in the snow? Don’t forget to use your finger spaces and use a full stop at the end to let us know your sentence is complete.
Science and Investigation:
Can you explore the quickest way to make snow melt? What would we need in order for it to melt really quickly? What changes do you notice as the snow melts? What does it look like? How does it feel?
Art:
Ask a grown up to help you paint the snow! Add a drop of food colouring and see if you can paint some pictures across the fresh blanket of snow.
We would love to see any pictures that you wish to share with us of your day today!
Enjoy your day,
Miss Wootton and Miss Clulow.
Layla had a lovely snow day building a snowman that was TALLER then her. She named her Mya.
