This week, we have been matching words to pictures using sounds we are familiar with as well as new ones. We have just started to learn digraphs in phonics (two letters that make one sound). This week’s digraphs are: ai ee oa. We have also looked at the trigraph (three letters that make one sound) igh.
We sometimes use buttons and bars to help us identify the sounds. The buttons are used for the singular letters that make one sound and the bars are used for the sounds that are made using two or more letters. We have been practising our blending to support our reading; our teachers are so impressed with our progress!
