Happy Chinese New Year- welcome to the year of the tiger!

Upper Key Stage Two have spent their assembly time this week thinking about the Chinese Calendar and exploring the qualities attributed to people born in each of the years. We worked out MOST of us are Dragons or Rabbits and according to Chinese tradition, this means we have certain characteristics such as being loyal, kind and protective of those we love.

We also looked at certain things which are to be avoided during the first day of the Lunar celebrations- did you know it is considered bad luck to sweep your house as it is seen as sweeping away any good luck?

We know many people in our wider community celebrate this special occasion and whilst this years may have been different, we wish them all a happy and prosperous New Year.
