Hello Year 1.

Unfortunately, we are cannot be in school today due to the snow and frost but not to worry we have some exciting activities planned for you to access at home.

In English last week, we explored teddy bears from the past (the 1900s). We researched how these stuffed animals/ toys became known as ‘teddy’s bear’ or ‘teddy bears’.  This week, are looking at teddy bears today. You have been asked to bring in your favourite teddy bear or stuffed toy to school. Not to worry, you can still bring this in when we reopen.

YOUR TASK:

Look at the teddy bears above. Can you tell which one is the old teddy bear from the past and which one is a teddy bear from today?

FIERY CHALLENGE:
Today in your Learning Logs (Red Books), I want you to write sentences to compare these two teddy bears. Use a good range of adjectives. Also use conjunctions such as and, because or but. Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops correctly.
For example: Teddy bears from the past were hard because they were stuffed with wood shavings. Teddy bears now, are soft and cuddly because they are stuffed with fibre and wool.

HOT CHALLENGE:
Today in your Learning Logs (Red Books), I want you to write sentences to compare these two teddy bears. Use a good range of adjectives. Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops correctly.
For example: The old teddy bear has long arms. The new teddy bear has short arms.

MILD CHALLENGE:
Today in your Learning Logs (Red Books), I want you to draw, colour and label your favourite teddy bear or stuffed toy and describe it orally to your adult at home.

PHONICS:
You can access a review of last week’s phonics lessons here.
You can also play Picnic on Pluto (Obb and Bob) here.

Take care and enjoy your SNOW DAY!

We hope to see you soon!
