Year 5 have started a new unit in Science which involves us exploring forces. Last week we talked about Gravity (ask us about Sir Isaac Newton!) and how it acts upon objects.

This week, our learning took us on a journey learning about Air Resistance, which acts against gravity to slow objects down as they fall. The challenge presented to us was that we had to design something which would protect an egg once it has been dropped from a window. This allowed us to talk about air resistance acting on different surface areas and also allowed us to strengthen our BLP muscles of Resilience and Reciprocity.

It was interesting to think about using appropriate materials and designs, we even discussed how eggs react differently if they fall onto different surfaces.
