Year 2 have had yet another busy week action packed with learning. We have made excellent use of our BLP muscles of absorption, noticing and reasoning and have managed to climb out of the Learning Pit on many occasions.
Our Maths lessons this week have been helping us understand fractions of shapes and quantities. We began our learning journey by finding and recognising halves, thirds and quarters. Working as a group, we explored activities such as finding a quarter of 12 using Numicon; finding quarters of 2D shapes and sorting fractions into quarters and not quarters.
Now we are more confident in our understanding, Mrs Houghton and Mrs Taylor are working our brains incredibly hard to apply our understanding of division to finding non-unit fractions of amounts. With a little perseverance, we will master this new maths concept in no time!
