Year 2 have been busy using art work to complete a DT project in which we had to use pivots and levers to create a moving mechanism.

A pivot is a point at which an object moves from left to right or rotates. A lever is used to move the object on the pivot. Our object was a boat which was caught up in The Big Wave- like Harry’s boat in Bottlenose Bay!

We decorated a boat with our own unique design and used a split pin as our pivot point. With a blue lever so it camouflaged with the waves, we were then able to move the boat from left to right as if it were being thrown around by the wild winds.

We learned many new skills and have developed our DT vocabulary. It was a fantastic afternoon of creativity which we all enjoyed!
